Week dedicated to body image
In conjunction with National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, UNC and the Women's Resource Center are hosting multiple events Feb. 21-24.
The first activity of the week will be the Mind and Body Fair 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Monday in the first floor of the University Center. On-campus groups, including the Campus Recreation Center, and off-campus groups, such as the Eating Disorder Center of Denver, will educate students on overall wellness and health.
Body image, eating disorders and conceptions of beauty will be the focus of the Everyday Angels Fashion Show at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The models of the fashion show will be dressed in attire to best represent or signify who they are and that makes them feel beautiful.
Staff from the UNC Counseling Center will be on-hand to provide tips on helping a friend with an eating disorder 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Aspen C of the University Center.
An art show with body image themed paintings will be on display at 6 p.m. Thursday in Scott-Willcoxon Hall, home of the Women's Resource Center.
