"I loved the safe and comfortable environment. EDCD has a friendly and helpful staff that taught me to accept and learn from life's lessons. I also appreciated the patient camaraderie and processing groups."

| Laura Peroutka, MA, ATR, LPC |
| Laura sees the healing potential of art space to act as a “playground” for a new, more mindful way of being. Laura enjoys assisting individuals in using art to explore new possibilities and develop a visual language for emotional expression and regulation. She feels that through creative action, individuals learn to trust themselves to take risks, face challenges, identify choices, make decisions and “create without judgment.” Laura guides patients to reconnect with their self-awareness and authentic values in order to attain the internal strength needed for a lifetime of recovery. Laura has experience working with a variety of psychiatric, developmental and behavioral disorders, along with issues such as domestic violence, trauma and eating disorders. Her work experience also includes teaching art to groups of children and adolescents. Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and art history from Bradley University and a master’s in art therapy counseling from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
