An eating disorder treatment program isn’t the same for any two people. After an initial assessment, we will determine the best types of treatment for the potential patient. But to help you know what to expect, here are the main steps to expect after you first contact us.

First, a compassionate and discreet staff member will talk to you, answer your questions about treatment, help you set up your assessment, and answer questions about insurance coverage and paying for services. You may meet with a benefits counselor to figure out what your insurance will cover.

Next, if you’re local to Denver, Kansas City or Colorado Springs, you’ll come to our office for your assessment. If you live out of the area of a local center, we’ll complete your assessment over the phone. An assessment is a session to discuss your eating issues and other contributing factors, such as family history, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, substance use disorder, etc. This will help us get to know you so we can determine a treatment option that will be best for your needs and set you up for success in treatment.

After your assessment, a coordinator will work with you to plan your admission to the appropriate level of care and schedule an appointment with an individual therapist, family therapist, dietitian, psychiatrist and any other providers that were recommended as part of your treatment plan.

Once you start your treatment, you will be assigned to an individual therapist who will be your main contact for ongoing support and questions. Your therapist will also help you plan and set up both your treatment environment and home environment to empower you to succeed in program.
